Our Story
We’ll keep it short here because it’s a love story told all throughout the history of the world. The classic girl meets girl, they have an awkward first encounter meeting on their college golf team, somehow, they get past that and become friends, and then they fall into the met on a sports team romantic novel trope a couple years later and live happily ever after. That one. The end.
In all seriousness though, we met in college at Maryville University in 2012. It was our first day of being on the golf team, and we both nervously met an entirely new group of people for the first time, which, if you know us, was not our strong suit, to say the least. That day led to our internally amusing and never-ending difference in opinion on how that first conversation between us went. Long story short, Lauren thinks Emily excitedly said “oh, yeah!” to one of our teammates saying that she played together in high school with Emily, and when Lauren said the same in an equally as enthusiastic tone, Emily mumbled “oh, I don’t know.” Let’s be clear that Lauren is wrong, although she developed this site, so if this makes it to the actual page, then that’s true love ya’ll. If it doesn’t make it… well, Emily will be the only one to see this. Anyway, back to the story. We were both anxious and uncomfortable that day, and that’s without even knowing that we were meeting the future loves of our lives. We can’t even imagine the social disaster that would have been if we had foreseen that.
Fast forward over ten years later, and we are so excited to be able to celebrate our love with those closest to us. We chose Boston as the location for our wedding because now that we are here, we could never imagine having it anywhere else. For two women who found love together, St. Louis felt like we could never find fully steady footing. Elections were tough, and there was always that underlying instinct to… let’s just be short with it… drop each other’s hands in public. Don’t get us wrong, we spent most of our lives in St. Louis before moving to Boston at the end of 2022, and we have so many good memories there and so much to be thankful for, but as we considered what we wanted our future to look like, we knew a change in location was the best path forward. St. Louis was great, but the Midwest is the Midwest.
Now, to the fun stuff, after what we will always deem an overshare. We cannot wait for you all to join us for our wedding and get your own view across Boston. We know you’ll love it as much as we do!

Like the clearest sign we could imagine, our first day after being fully moved into our apartment here, we turned on the news, and we got a thumbs up emoji on our decision. The country’s first out Lesbian governor had been elected in Massachusetts.
